Recipe For Pesto SauceHomemade pesto sauce is good for both pasta dishes and as an appetizer with sourdough bread. Here's a recipe for Pesto Sauce that I learned from my last trip to Italy. A cold winter day can be made almost bearable with a good bowl of homemade pasta soup. You can add some homemade egg style pasta to enhance and add that extra touch of flavor to any version of your homemade soup. It doesn't matter what your basic ingredient might be, chicken, beef or stew meat, or just vegetables. Here's an easy pasta recipe and some good food processor tricks that can make any soup taste better and be more filling. The Pesto Sauce Recipe: 1
1/2 Cup of fresh basil leaves 1/4
cup of pine nuts Use your food processor to finely grind up all the ingredients, then slowly add the dry ingredients first to oil. Mix briskly and add the ground up nuts and vegetables. I usually heat the oil over a very low heat for about 20-30 minutes to let the ingredients combine well. Make sure you don't overheat or you will destroy the natural flavor. And only use fresh ingredients whenever possible. Use air tight container for freezing, or freeze in ice cube tray for smaller portions if using within a day or two. Of course eating right after preparation is best but this does retain a very good flavor and consistency even after freezing.. This Pesto recipe is great with sourdough bread, appetizers, any type of homemade pasta, grilled vegetables, and even grilled fish. You should serve it warm whenever possible, with parmesan or other grated cheese. Use it for a glaze when roasting your vegetables or meat for a unique caramelized flavor and color. This
is a great staple for the summer season since the vegetables will be in
season and fresh. You can even serve it on homemade pasta salads with
fresh vegetables and fruits for a healthy meal. It's my favorite choice
for any kind of pasta or vegetable dish. And you can add any seasoning
you want to make it more spicy or have a particular flavor to go with
any meal. |
